Media Rights Management (MRM) was founded to help music and media companies secure and manage the rights they need to drive their businesses.
MRM's founder, Maurice Russell, has over 25 years of rights management experience in the music industry. Prior to launching MRM, he held several senior positions during a 13-year tenure at the Harry Fox Agency (HFA) where he had oversight of core operations and corporate strategy.
In his most recent role as Senior Vice President of Licensing and Clients Services at HFA, he led licensing, catalog management and client services for over 48,000 HFA music publishers as well as hundreds of record labels and digital distributors. A knowledge leader with a deep background in the industry’s licensing and data challenges, he has served on advisory groups at the U.S. Copyright Office and the U.S. Patent and Trade Office, and is a long-time member of Digital Data Exchange (DDEX), the leading data standards body serving the global digital music industry. He is also a frequent speaker at key industry conferences, including Digital Music Forum, Music Biz and SXSW.
Before joining HFA, Maurice was Vice President and General Manager of Razorfish Studios, Inc., where he led the fast-growing digital start-up’s daily operations. Prior to that, he was Senior Director, Business Development and Licensing, at Red Ant Entertainment. He began his music industry career as a Senior Director, Contract Administration, at PolyGram Records.
